Vacation Bible School
Have you ever wanted to climb the pyramids in Egypt and witness the vast landscape from high above? I can imagine what it must have been like to live and work in a dusty, bustling, noisy city along the Nile in ancient Egypt. "Egypt - Joseph's Journey From Prison To Palace" is coming to our New Life Church Campus this summer as we travel to Egypt to visit Joseph in prison and then in the palace during our Vacation Bible School!
This is our first VBS held here on our new campus with our new and extended church family. "Egypt" is for kids and grown-ups too, so it immerses learners of all ages in Bible-times culture, helping kids and adults explore what it might have been like to live in a culture that had never heard of the one, true God. We'll experience new traditions, taste new foods, and try new craft projects as we discover that God never leaves us alone through life's triumphs and struggles. The dates for VBS are July 26 - 30, 2010, and will be held in the early evening hours from 6:00 to 8:30. VBS is very popular with families and kids of all ages and is a wonderful time to grow as a church body, to have a ton of fun together and to be a blessing to our neighbors.

The Parent's Prayer
O, Master, make me a better parent.
“Teach me to understand my children, to listen patiently to what they have to say, and to answer all the questions kindly. Keep me from interrupting them, and contradicting them. Make me as courteous to them as I would have them be to me. Give me the courage to confess my sins against my children and to ask them for forgiveness, when I know I have done them a wrong.
“May I not vainly hurt the feelings of my children. Forbid that I should laugh at their mistakes or resort to shame and ridicule as punishment. Let me not tempt my child to lie and to steal. So guide me hour by hour that I may demonstrate by all I say and do that honesty produces happiness.
“Reduce I pray, the meanness in me. May I cease to nag; and when I am out of sorts, help me hold my tongue.
“Blind me to the little errors of my children and help me to see the good things that they do. Give me a ready word for honest praise.
“Help me to grow up with my children, to treat them as would those of their own age; but let me not exact of them the judgment and conventions of adults. Allow me not to rob them of the opportunity to wait upon themselves, to think, to choose, and to make decisions.
“Forbid that I should ever punish them for my selfish satisfaction. May I grant them all their wishes that are reasonable, and have the courage always to withhold a privilege which I know will do them harm.
“Make me fair and just, so considerate and companionable to my children, that they will have a genuine esteem for me. Fit me to be loved and imitated.
“With all Thy gifts, O great Master, give me calm, poise and self-control.”
